History of the DC Universe is a two-issue comic book limited series created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, and published by DC Comics following the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths. It was an attempt to summarize the new history of the DC Universe to establish what was canonical after Crisis reformed the multiverse into a single universe. In the original planning of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the History would have formed the final two issues, following the destruction of the Multiverse at the Beginning of Time, but this was changed, presumably because it would have been a very undramatic ending to the series.

The dark lord Abraxis seeks to take over Earth's dimension by projecting his influence through a rift in the time stream. He gathers twelve malcontents from Earth and imbues them with special powers and the mission to build four constructs that would bring him into their reality. Waverider gather's heroes from all across the time stream to do battle with the minions of Abraxis. Seven Soldiers of Victory was written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by J.H. Williams III, and has been described by Morrison as not just a maxiseries but a "megaseries." It consists of two book-end titles, and seven four-issue limited sub-series, each revolving around one member of the team. The entire story consists of 30 issues, and each miniseries can either be read individually, or as part of the larger whole. This third incarnation of the Seven Soldiers of Victory includes no members from the original team, but an entirely new cast including: The Bulleteer, Frankenstein, Klarion, The Manhattan Guardian, Mister Miracle (Shilo Norman), Shining Knight and Zatanna.
