Doc Stearn...Mr. Monster is a fictional character comic book superhero created by Michael T. Gilbert, most recently published by Dark Horse Comics. The character first appeared in Pacific Comics Vanguard Illustrated #7 (July 1984). Later the character graduated to his own monthly series Doc Stearn...Mr. Monster from Eclipse Comics. Mr. Monster was derived from an old 1940's character appearing in only one issue of a defunct Canadian Comic who had lapsed into public domain, Gilbert heavily revised the character creating a Horror/Humor hybrid which often featured heavy satire of both horror as well as comics in general

The Legion of Super-Heroes was merely a clever title for a group of teenaged super-heroes (only three of whom are actually named) from the far future who went back in time to pay tribute to the greatest teenaged super-hero of them all - the Boy of Steel, Superboy. But the interest on the part of comics fans was so great, the super-team was brought back time and time again, in the majority of Superman Family titles. Eventually, demand grew so strong the Legion of Super-Heroes was awarded its own continuing series.

Nearly 100 years in the future, the many planets of the solar system find themselves caught in the middle of a civil war. In the midst of everything a gigantic black wall separates the solar system in two, absorbing all light and matter! The universe's last hope is a band of soldiers facing court martial. They are the men and women of the Purgatory Squadron! Their mission: investigate the mysterious black wall, save the universe, and try not to die in the process!
