Set in a world where sentient mechs have yet to become a reality, the first self-aware robot gains consciousness while on a mission to rescue a little girl from a war zone. Unaware of its own sentience, this "Father Robot" believes the girl's father pilots him remotely via an immersive control pod. Meanwhile, Father Robot and the little girl are pursued by their own military, enemy forces and the biological father.
